LCE is an extended employment center providing jobs for more than 45 men and women with disabilities. We have four balers for cardboard, plastic, aluminum/tin cans and has a sorting room where our employees separate all of the incoming recycling into the proper bins to maximize revenue.

Recycling Services by Adults with Developmental Disabilities

Accepted Waste

  • Cardboard
  • Newspaper,  Magazines, Books,
  • White/colored Paper
  • Aluminum Cans
  • Glass
  • Tin Cans (rinsed)
  • #1 & #2 plastic bottles, jugs,
  • And similar items (please rinse)
  • Note: We ONLY accept #1 & 2 plastics.

Waste Not Accepted

  • Regular trash, #3-#7 plastics
  • Any type of hard plastic
  • Wood, Boards, Siding
  • Styrofoam of any kind
  • Packing peanuts
  • Plastic Bags or Wrapping paper
  • Or any hazardous material.

We have expanded our recycling and are now accepting the following for recycling:

E-Waste

Laptops, towers, projectors, printers, tablets, docking stations, power tool batteries, office phones, game consoles, cameras, flat monitors, flat screen tv’s (older tv’s & monitors with CRT bulbs will have a $50 disposal fee), power cords, Cat 5 wire, Christmas lights, etc. Any items that have a hard drive in them will be destroyed either by shredding, punching a hole through the hard drive or wiping all info from hard drive with a DOD type software.

Household Electronics

CD/DVD Players, stereos & stereo components, old electronics, typewriters, calculators, medical devices, testing equipment, any type of machine with electronic components, remote controls, cassette players, eight track players, CB radios, radios, amplifiers, hot spots, microwaves, any kind of house hold electric cords, computer cords & telephone cords, etc. No coax cables.

Motor Breakage

Ceiling fans (no blades) sewing machines, electric shavers, electric tools, paper shredders, box fans, vacuum cleaners, weed eaters, fish tank pumps, blender bottoms, mixers, any type of machine with an electric motor in it.

Metal Breakage

Items that "stick to a magnet:" weights, barbells, file cabinets, bed rails, cast iron pans, tin boxes, wire hangers, pots & pans, silverware, etc.

General Information​

  • PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE TRASH!
  • We have cameras in place and will prosecute those leaving items not on our accepted list.
  • There are metal bins for cardboard located in the recycling lot. The recycling trailer has slots labeled for newspaper, magazines, cans, and plastic bottles. The bins and the trailer are emptied often during the week.
  • Lafayette County Enterprises buys aluminum drink cans at the workshop. The hours are 8:30 am—3:30 pm, Monday—Friday.
